GRAPE CHART FLASHCARDS
Our Unique Grape Charts Unveiled!
Studying grape varieties for your wine studies can be a daunting nightmare that can keep you up at night... Remembering all the facts there is to know about a single grape variety, since it is an important aspect when you study in wine, especially when taking it to a (more) professional level. So, how did I master my knowledge on those many.. many... many grape varieties out there?
Well, it all started during my own WSET studies. Especially when studying for my WSET Diploma and in particular D3 exam. We had to learn so many grape varieties, +150 (!), yes I've counted them all. I thought I could never comprehend all that information top of my mind when needed to. I was stressed out, and thought "how on earth" am I going to grasp at least a little information on all those all those varieties when I need to recall it.
So, I created my own 'grape chart' flashcards and started skimming my syllables for all the grape varietals, and adding the necessary information to my flashcards. Each varietal got another card. So, everytime I came across that variety, I'd add the additional information to that particular flashcard.
This lead to a hugh part of my Instagram posts, and to the start of the below blog page, where I obviously (when you know me) added more information than we need to know for our studies, but could come in handy at times.
This method worked quite well for me to be honest. I almost started to dose off dreaming about soft, juicy, ripe grapes. Enjoy your search to your favourite variety, do you know yours?
Since, studying in wine is of an international nature, we chose to keep the content on this page available only in English (for the time being). As it will make it easier (in practice) to communicate with other like minded winelovers all over the world.
The picture above, I took when in Armenia, in the region of Tavush to be exact, (in the north-east part of Armenia) where they just harvested their last Areni grapes for that season (2024). These grapes were being sorted and on their way to go into the stainless steel tank to undergo carbonic maceration. A perfect bunch don't you think?! And the picture in the picture I was sniffing a Pet Nat rosé from that same variety, but in this case from the region of Vayots Dzor in Armenia.
*COMING SOON* - We are quite busy to develop a database of Wine with Margarets Grape Chart Flascards to become more visual. Keep an eye out on this page, or subscribe to our newsletter, since I would reveil the moment when they become available for purchase (digital product).
